Kristian Martin was named as Assistant Director of Athletics for Information and Communication on February 2, 2009.
Prior to coming to Lewis & Clark, she served as the
Assistant Director for Athletics Media Relations at Division I
Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. During her time there
she served as the full-time contact for seven of the school’s
fourteen athletic programs. Prior to Longwood she worked at the
University of North Florida in Jacksonville for three years as both
a full-time staff assistant as well as an undergraduate student
assistant in sports information. Martin earned her Bachelor of Arts
degree in sociology from North Florida with a minor in
communications, including a public relations emphasis.
At Longwood, Martin assisted in all aspects of the Athletics Media
Relations office with direct sport responsibility for women’s
basketball, men’s soccer, softball, women’s lacrosse,
field hockey, along with men’s and women’s tennis. She
assisted in the management of the athletics website, handled media
inquiries, coordinated interviews, promoted home events, produced
sport media guides and other publications, assisted with game
management activities, and managed the supervision of student
employees.
During her time at North Florida, Martin served as the primary
contact for women’s soccer, men’s and women’s
cross country, and men’s and women’s track and field.
In addition to her game operations experience, she also produced
media guides for her assigned sports, supervised and managed
student assistants and interns, while also organizing and assisting
with daily operations as well as various special projects for UNF
Athletics.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Martin was the sports editor of
the UNF student newspaper. She assisted at the 2006 NCAA Division I
Men’s Basketball Tournament opening rounds in Jacksonville,
and served as the event’s Photography Director.
