PORTLAND, Ore. Leading up to the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference (NCRC) Championships, junior rower Laura Nash has been selected the Lewis & Clark Featured Student-Athlete of the Week.

Nash is being named the Featured Student-Athlete following the NCRC Invitational, where she was a member of the varsity four that beat out Willamette and Pacific Lutheran, as well as the varsity eight that placed second just behind Puget Sound.

“Laura’s development this season has been an absolute highlight of the year,” said head coach Sam Taylor. “She has vastly improved her capabilities as an athlete both technically and physically, and it’s showing in our speed on the water.”

In addition to her dedication to the L&C crew program, Nash is a Pamplin Scholar, the undergraduate honor society that requires a minimum 3.7 GPA as well as dedication to the community and physical fitness, among other things, who plans to travel to China with the Fulbright Scholarship program before enrolling in a graduate program. She is an East Asian Studies and Studio Art major, and is also a member of the Chinese Club.

“Laura is the consummate teammate, a tremendous student, and a real testament to the best Lewis & Clark has to offer,” said Taylor.

The Lewis & Clark athletics department will name a Featured Student-Athlete each Thursday based on performances in competition as well as in the classroom.
