GRAPEVINE, Tex. - Associate Director of Athletic Development Monica Baker provided insight into the fundraising efforts of Lewis & Clark as part of a panel of speakers at the 2013 NCAA National Convention on Thursday, Jan. 17 in Grapevine, Texas.

The session, titled "Division III: Integrating Athletics Fundraising with Institutional Advancement and Development Programs," included speakers from Randolph-Macon College, the University of St. Thomas (Minn.), the University of Southern Maine, and the University of Rochester.

The panelists covered the challenges and effects of fundraising in athletics as it becomes more integral to the operating costs of Division III athletics departments nationwide. Discussion ranged from how to operate from within an institution’s advancement and development teams to how athletics can lead the coordination efforts between the two departments.

Baker gave a synopsis of how Lewis & Clark structures fundraising efforts for Pioneer Athletics as part of the Annual Giving team in Institutional Advancement in order to provide enhancement funds for the athletics programs at the college.

“It was a great experience,” said Baker. “I was thrilled to share with other Division III institutions all of the good things we are doing here at Lewis & Clark as we advance our athletics fundraising efforts.”
