Two-time all-American in track
& field and honorable mention all-American in football; set an NAIA District 2 record in the hammer throw of 168 feet, 11 inches, in 1976 that stood for 11 years; finished fifth in the ham-mer in the NAIA nationals in 1975 and 1976; won first NWC competition in that event in 1976;
two-time district champion; won 19 1st places in hammer and discus in two years; four-year starter in  football, including three at defensive tackle; all-NWC and NAIA all-American mention as a senior.  (Inducted in 1986)
