Four-year letterman in football and wrestling;two-time all-American offensive guard in football—2nd team in 1960, 1st team in 1961; three-time 1st team all-NWC;  twice winner of the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate 191-pound wrestling titles; winner of three straight NAIA District 2 191-pound crowns.  (Charter member of Hall of Fame, inducted in 1978)
