Four-year letterman in football; honorable mention all-American as a sophomore; three-time 1st team all-Northwest Conference halfback; set L&C rushing record of 1,075 yards in 1971; led team in rushing three seasons, including his junior year when he played in only five games; as a senior he was a starter on offense and defense and returned punts and kickoffs; had a 33-game career total of 2,273 yards rushing; was a sprinter and threw the javelin in track and field.
