Williams All-Northwest Conference
Centerfielder Greg Williams (senior, San Diego, Calif.) earned
his second-straight Second Team All-Northwest Conference honors
this week. Williams batted .294, a mark that rose to .322 in NWC
contests this season. Williams also hit four home runs, stole five
bases, and drove in 23 runs. One of the best defensive outfielders
in the Conference, Williams had a .970 fielding percentage and had
a pair of outfield assists this season.
Pitcher Jordon Smiley (junior, Las Vegas, Nevada) short stop Jordan
Shibata (junior, Pearl City, Hawaii), and infielder Sami Morgan
(freshman, San Mateo, Calif.) all earned honrable mentions. Smiley
led the Pioneers with a 3.11 ERA (2.22 against NWC tteams) and was
among the top 100 pitchers in all of Division III baseball with 58
strikeouts. Northwest Conference batters hit just .225 against
Smiley this season. Smiley was a second team selection in 2006.
Short stop Jordan Shibata batted .344 against Northwest Conference
pitching this season. Shibata led the Pioneers with a .319 overall
batting average. He was a second-team selection in 2006.
Sami Morgan, the Lewis & Clark College Pioneer Rookie of the
Year, earned an honorable mention as a utility player. The
versatile Morgan played mainly second and third, but filled
whatever gap the team needed, including earning a save on the
mound. Morgan batted .298 this season, stealing nine bases.
