Baseball Begins Season With Three Game Series At Occidental

PORTLAND, Ore., - The 2009 baseball season has finally arrived for Lewis & Clark College, as the Pioneers prepare to begin their season on Saturday, Feb. 14 against Occidental College in Los Angeles. The two teams will play a double-header with the first pitch set for 11 a.m. Game one will be nine innings, while the second game of the day will be seven innings.

L&C at Occidental (DH): Saturday, Feb. 14 – 11:00 a.m.
L&C at Occidental: Sunday, Feb. 15 – 12:00 p.m.

Scouting The Opponent
This will be the Pioneers first series of the season, while the Tigers have six games under their belt. Occidental is currently 5-1 on the season with its lone loss coming against Northwest Conference member Whitman College on Feb. 7 after 12 innings of action. The Tigers bounced back from their 15-13 loss to defeat Whitman the next day 28-3 to earn their fifth win of the year.

Prior to the Whitman series, the Tigers swept a three game series with La Sierra University, which included one extra inning game.
