Baseball Falls to Willamette in Final Game of Classic

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark baseball team fell to the Willamette Bearcats 10-2 on Sunday in the teams final game of the 'Swing into Spring Classic'.

The Pioneers fall to 0-6 on the season, while the Bearcats improve to 3-2.

During the course of the game, the Bearcats out hit the Pios 16-5, while committing four errors to L&C's two.

Geoff Wertz finished 2-for-3 from the plate for Lewis & Clark. Andrew Traver and Michael Kinkenon were the only Pioneers to score.

Willamette held a 10-0 lead before Lewis & Clark plated its first run of the game in the sixth inning. The bottom of the sixth started off with Kinkenon leading off with a walk. The sophomore then stole second before advancing to third on a pass ball. A Bearcat error by the third baseman on a Traver at bat, allowed Kinkenon to make his way home.

Like the sixth inning, Traver reached base on an error by the third baseman. The error not only put Traver on base but allowed him to move to second on the throw. Pitching woes for Willamette loaded the bases to eventually sent Traver home on a walk.
