Game 1 - George Fox 12, Lewis & Clark 1
NEWBERG, Ore. -- Four errors and 11 hits allowed hindered the Lewis & Clark Pioneers in their opening game against George Fox on Saturday at Morse Athletic Field. The home team Bruins scored nine runs against Pios starter Nathan Klein in a 12-1 victory.
Klein pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowed seven hits and five earned runs with four walks and three strikeouts. The Bruins scored five runs in the fifth and three in the seventh, as Lewis & Clark pitched Jack Silva and Nat Richman in relief.
Conner Sick had the Pios best day at the plate, hitting 2 for 4. He's 10 for 19 in his last six games.
Game 2 - George Fox 15, Lewis & Clark 3
Five runs in the second and seventh inning helped George Fox to a day one sweep of Lewis & Clark. The Bruins racked up 17 hits in a 15-3 victory.
Conner Sick and Ben Beck had two-hit games for the Pios, as Aaron Landecker gave up five runs on six hits over two innings as the Lewis & Clark starting pitcher. Drake Gilliland threw 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on six hits with three strikeouts. George Fox hit three home runs in the game.
The finale of the three-game series starts at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
