Pioneers fall in non-conference game to Pacific

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers allowed nine hits to the Pacific Boxers on Tuesday night, while picking up six of their own, but Pacific plated eight runs as Lewis & Clark lost 8-0 at Ron Tonkin Field. Lewis & Clark committed five errors.

The game did not count in the Northwest Conference standings, as Lewis & Clark fell to 11-26 on the season overall. Pacific is now 21-13. The NWC regular season wraps up this weekend, with the Pioneers hosting Pacific Lutheran.

Akira Abderrahman had a leadoff and a two-out single in the game to finish 2 for 3, the same as Ben Beck who singled in the third and eighth innings. Bradley Lezak and Matt Donovan each had a hit as well. Lewis & Clark hit into four double plays.

Pacific brought in a pair of runs in the first, sixth and eighth innings. The game was called in the eighth inning because of weather. Josh Keithly had 2 RBI to lead Pacific, as the Boxers stranded 12 baserunners. Ben Roquet and Charlie Dietrich had doubles for the Boxers.

Lewis & Clark starter Robert Reaser threw three innings and allowed one earned run on six hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Bradley Bourdase finished the game over five innings. He gave up five runs on four hits and six walks, striking out two. Nate Montgomery picked up the win over seven innings and five hits with three strikeouts and a walk.

The Pios series with PLU starts at noon on Saturday at the Huston Sports Complex, and includes an alumni reunion starting on Friday. It will be the final games for seniors Aaron Landecker, Carter Bagley, Christian Macdonald, Blake Howell, John Trupin and Lezak.
