Off game-winner, Eriza earns conference honor

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Lewis & Clark freshman kicker Obed Eriza was named Northwest Conference Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week following his 33-yard field goal that helped the Pioneers defeat Willamette for the first time since 2000. The conference office announced the award on Monday.

Eriza made his third field goal in the Pios' last two games to seal a 24-21 win over Willamette in the annual "Wagon Wheel" game. The victory gives Lewis & Clark consecutive wins for the first time since 2012 and an overall 2-1 record.

The 33-yard effort is the third-longest among NWC kickers this season. Eriza also went 3 for 3 on PATs and averaged 58.3 yards per kickoff as Willamette only started one drive in Lewis & Clark territory. He is 9 for 9 on PATs this season.

Lewis & Clark travels to Puget Sound for its first NWC road game on Saturday.
