Scott Pierce joined the Pioneer program in time for 2005 spring drills. For the prior three seasons, he was the defensive coordinator at NAIA Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois. TIU earned a spot in the NAIA National Championship series as the Mid-States Football Association runner-up.  They achieved an NAIA national ranking as high as #14.  
    Pierce was named the MSFA Midwest League Assistant Coach of the Year in his first season with the Trojans in 2002. TIU ranked #16 nationally in scoring defense in the 2002 regular season.
   Prior to his efforts at TIU, Pierce was a graduate assistant at the University of Idaho. From 1999-2000, Pierce was the defensive coordinator at Crown College in St. Bonifacious, Minnesota.
    As a player at Pacific Lutheran University, Pierce was part of three NAIA playoff teams, including the 1994 aational runner-up, and one NCAA-III playoff team. He graduated from PLU in 1999 with a degree in History and a minor in Special Education. Pierce is an instructor in the Lewis & Clark PE/A Department. He lives in Tigard with his wife Katie.
