PORTLAND, Ore. – In an effort to move the Lewis & Clark Physical Education & Athletics Department in a different direction the College named Mark Pietrok the Acting Director of Athletics on Monday, May 6, 2013.
"I look forward to Mark's leadership during this transition period. He is committed to students success, staff development, and Pioneer Athletics," said Dean of Students Anna Gonzalez.
Pietrok has served as the Pioneers head athletics trainer since 1989, before being named the Senior Associate Director of Athletics – Sports Medicine in 2009.
A 1985 graduate of the University of Portland, Pietrok earned an interdisciplinary degree, before receiving his Masters of Education from UP in 1988. During his time at UP, Pietrok worked as the assistant athletics trainer from 1987-89.
In his 24th year of service at Lewis & Clark, Pietrok oversees all aspects of the Pioneers training room, which includes two full-time assistant trainers. With Pietrok’s transition as the Acting Director of Athletics, longtime assistant and L&C graduate, Jeremy Loew, will be taking over as the Interim Head Athletics Trainer.
