NWC
Release
PORTLAND, Ore. – After helping guide the
Lewis & Clark men’s basketball team to a Northwest
Conference victory over Puget Sound on Saturday, junior guard Kelly
Edwards has been named NWC Athlete of the Week as announced on
Tuesday.
Edwards finished the week averaging 26 points a game and shooting
76% from the free throw line, while finishing seven-of-eight from
the charity stripe against the Loggers. Against the Bruins of
George Fox on Friday night, Edwards finished with a game-high 30
points, while contributing four assists and six boards to the
team’s efforts. He followed up his performance against the
Bruins with 22 points the next night when the Pios hosted Loggers.
His game-high 22 points helped paved the way for an 85-82 Pioneer
victory, moving the squad to 4-4 in conference play this
season.
Next up the Pioneers hit the road to take on the Whitman
Missionaries (Friday, Jan. 29) and the Whitworth Pirates (Saturday,
Jan. 30) for the second half of the NWC season. Both games are set
to tip at 8 p.m.
