FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- Lewis & Clark guard Andrew Vickers was selected as the Northwest Conference's Freshman of the Year, the conference office announced earlier this week. In addition, Vickers was selected to the All-NWC Honorable Mention team.
Vickers was one of the Pioneers' best offensive student-athletes this season, averaging 11.9 points per game, which tied him for the team lead with last year's All-NWC selection, senior Cannen Roberson. Vickers finished the year strongly, scoring a career-high 23 points in Lewis & Clark's 73-57 win at Willamette on Feb. 10, his third-to-final game of the season. Over a three-game stretch, which concluded with the Willamette game, Vickers averaged 20.6 points per game.
Among NWC leaders, Vickers was top 20 in points per game, field-goal percentage (47.3) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5). He also finished just outside the top 20 in rebounds per game, averaging 4.6 per contest to rank 21st.
