Pioneers win streak comes to an end

CLAREMONT, Calif.-- Lewis & Clark Pioneers' winning streak came to an end this Wednesday night losing to the Claremont Mudd-Scripps 87-64. This is the their first loss this season by a margin of 20 points or more.

The Pioneers had a slow start at the beginning of the first half only scoring seven points in the first 10 minutes to the Mudd-Scripps 20 points. Kyle Owens was then able to get things rolling for the Pioneers making two consecutive 3-pointers. The Pios were able to slowly close the 13 point gap ending the first half down 36-30.

In the second half, Lewis & Clark were unable to keep up with the Pioneers only scoring 34 points to the Mudd-Scripps 51. The Pios lost the field goal battle shooting 38.6% to the Mudd-Scripps 60.7%.

Andrew Panicacci came off the bench scoring most points for the Pioneers at the end of the first half with seven points.

Daelon Floyd was the leading scorer and rebounder for the Pioneers tonight with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Pioneers will be playing their second consecutive away game against Chapman tomorrow at 6 p.m.
