Vandermeer joined the Lewis & Clark men's basketball
coaching staff in 2012 after coaching at Humboldt State from
2010-2012, where the Lumberjacks had an overall record of 48-12. In
the 2011-12 season, Humboldt won the Conference championship and
the Conference tournament for the first time in school history. In

During his collegiate playing career at Humboldt State, Vandermeer helped the Lumberjacks claim back-to-back California Collegiate Athletic Association conference championships in 2007 and 2008. In those same two seasons, Humboldt State moved on to the NCAA Division II West Region Championship Tournament, making it all the way to the title game in 2007. As a senior, Vandermeer averaged 11.2 points per game and was the league's third best rebounder with 8.6 per game while also blocking 62 shots, earning All-CCAA First-Team honors and First-Team All-Academic as well. As a player he went to the NCAA Tournament three out of four seasons.
