Day One of NWC Fall Classic Concludes
PORTLAND, Ore. – Day one of the Northwest
Conference Men’s Golf Fall Classic did not start under ideal
conditions, with a steady flow of raining falling one and off
throughout the day. The Linfield Wildcats are leading the classic
after day one posting a team score of 299.
The Wildcats used a 72 from Tyler Nelson, as well as a 74 from
Yutaro Sakamoto, 78 from Tony Kordosky and 79 from Alex Fitch to
take a two-stroke lead over the Pacific Boxers.
Pacific was led by a 71 from reigning NWC Individual Champion Max
Bonk. Bonk’s one under par led all golfers on the day. Ben
Wright finished with a 75 to keep the Boxers in contention with a
301.
The Pirates of Whitworth were led by a 72 from Christian Boudreau,
with the next best score coming from Cameron Whittle who shot a 76
as the Bucs finished day one with a score of 306. Puget Sound sits
in fourth after the first day at 309, led by a 76 by Marc Phillips.
Pacific Lutheran is in fifth at 311, led by a 75 by Kevin
Englund.
George Fox is sixth with a 323, while Whitman is one stroke
behind with a 324. Willamette is eighth with a team score of 331
but the Lewis & Clark Pioneers are on their trail, shooting a
day one 332.
The teams are set to tee off on the final round at 10 a.m. on
Sunday, Oct. 18.
