Pirate Men Finish First At NWC Golf Championships

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Whitworth Pirates hung on to win the Northwest Conference Men’s Golf Championship on Sunday afternoon at the Heron Lakes Golf Club after posting a two-day score of 618. With the win, the Pirates earn the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. Ryan Young was the tournament medalist, finishing with a tournament score of 151.

The Pirates also picked up a top-five finish from Cameron Whittle who shot a 154, while Christian Bourdreau finished in sixth place with a 155. Jeff Aly finished out the scoring for the Pirates, finishing in a tie for 15th place with a 159.

Puget Sound finished three strokes out of first place with a two-day score of 620. Marc Phillips led the way with a 152, which tied him for second place. Greg Kirkpatrick finished with a 156, while Collin Wulff shot a 157 and Jordan Hodge finished with a 159.

Linfield and Pacific finished tied for third place with a 622, with Max Bonk of Pacific finishing tied for second-place with a 152. Whitman finished fourth (642), followed by Pacific Lutheran (643), George Fox (649), Willamette (696), and Lewis & Clark (719).
