ALOHA, Ore. - Competing at the Pacific University Spring Invitational, hosted at the Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club, the Lewis & Clark men's golf team knocked 13 strokes off its day one team score but failed to gain ground on the field, finishing the tournament in eighth place with a 683.
Linfield College took home the team championship posting a two-day team score of 612, followed closely by NAIA schools Corban University (613) and Warner Pacific College (614). Ryan Kukula of Willamette University earned tournament medalist honors, shooting a 148 (74, 74).
Leading the way for the Pioneers was freshman Reid Sata, who dropped 11 strokes from his first round score, finishing tied for 25th place with a 163 (87, 76). Also improving between rounds, Trevor Foster finished tied for 32nd place with a 171 (89, 82). Jack Mathews, Connor Laubenstein and Raymond Torkelson rounded out the scoring for the Pioneeers.
The team does not return to competition until April 6-7 at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic hosted by Puget Sound University at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
