Men's Golf Finishes 6th at NWC Championship Tournament


WOODBURN, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's golf team finished with its top finish of the 2013 season, earning a sixth place finish at the Northwest Conference Championship.

The Pioneers ended day two with its best team score in recent history, finishing with a 307 for a two day total of 629. The overall score is also the Pioneers best tournament score in years. With the sixth place finish today, the Pioneers earned enough points to finish the NWC Championship season in seventh place.

Senior Jack Mathews ends his career with his best outing, finishing one stroke away from earning second-team All-NWC honors. Mathews shot a 75 on day two for a tournament total of 152, tying for 13th place.

Reid Sata improved the most out of all the Pioneers on day two, knocking 10 strokes off his day one total. Sata ended the day one over par for a two day total of 156 for 20th place. Connor Laubenstein concluded the day with a 77 to go with his 82 from day one for a share of 26th place.

Trevor Foster ended the tournament in 31st place with a two day total of 162, while Alexander Lewandowski finished the championship with a 189.
