Men's Tennis Blanked By Whitman
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark
men’s tennis team was defeated by Northwest Conference foe
Whitman on Wednesday, March 18 falling 9-0. The Pioneers fall to
2-12 on the season and 2-9 in the NWC, while Whitman improves to
13-2 overall and 12-0 in the NWC.
Vincent Groot continues to give his NWC competition a run for their
money, this time forcing Jake Cappel to three sets and a
tie-breaker. Groot battled strong through the first set, falling
7-6 after dropping the tie-breaker 7-3. Groot then rebounded by
taking the second set 6-1 before falling 6-4 in the third and final
set.
The Pioneers return to the court on March 20 as they hit the road
to take on NWC competitor Linfield at 3:30 p.m.
