PORTLAND, Ore., - Sophomore Amalia Nilsson
continued her hot streak in Northwest Conference action, picking up
another singles and doubles victory as the Lewis & Clark
women’s tennis team fell to Whitman 6-3 at the Tennis Dome on
Friday evening. Nilsson defeated Elisa Otto 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in
singles, while teaming up with Whitney DeBree in doubles to take
down Otto and Margo Lentz 8-6 as the Pioneers fell to 5-4 on the
season.
The Pioneers other point came from the No. 3 doubles spot, with
Paige Earhart and Jill Coleman taking down Hadley DeBree and Emily
Rolston 9-7. Lewis & Clark nearly earned another singles point
as the DeBree’s did battle from the No. 2 singles spot, with
Hadley earning the advantage, taking down Whitney after three sets
and a tie-breaker (7-6 [7-5], 5-7, 6-4).
The Pios return to action on Saturday, March 14 hosting NWC
opponent Whitworth at the Tennis Dome at 11 a.m.
