Whitworth Takes Down Pioneers Women's Tennis 7-2

PORTLAND, Ore., - As Northwest Conference play
carries on, it continues to get more and more competitive as
Whitworth defeated the Lewis & Clark women’s tennis team
7-2 on Saturday, March 14 at the Tennis Dome. Sophomore Amalia
Nilsson earned the Pioneers lone singles point, knocking off Rachel
Burns from the No. 1 singles spot in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. The
Pioneers slip to 5-5 on the season, while Whitworth improves to a
perfect 10-0 in NWC action and 11-2 overall.
The Pioneers second point came in doubles action, with Nilsson and
partner Whitney DeBree taking down Burns and Alli Marshall 8-2.
Women’s tennis returns to action on March 20 at 3:30 in the
Tennis Dome against NWC foe Linfield. The Pioneers will get a
rematch against the Wildcats, who took down the Pios 7-2 during
their first meeting on February 20.
