Women's Tennis Hands Pacific A 6-3 Knockout

PORTLAND, Ore. – Four different members of
the Lewis & Clark women’s tennis team earned singles
points to help propel the team to a 6-3 Northwest Conference win
over Pacific on Friday night in the Tennis Dome.
Amalia Nilsson defeated Cat Goya from the No. 1 singles spot,
earning a decisive 6-0, 6-3 victory. Paige Earhart battled Dayna
Wong from the No. 3 singles spot grabbing a 6-0, 6-3 win, while
Jill Coleman took down Tessa Krebs in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) from
the No. 4 spot. Clio Beatty earned the teams final singles point,
taking out Stephanie Velligas in two straight sets with a 6-3 win
in set one and 7-5 victory in the second set.
Nilsson and Whitney DeBree joined forces to face-off with Goya and
Megan Yoshimoto in doubles action, earning a 9-8 (7-4) win in the
No.1 spot. Earhart and Coleman fought for a doubles victory from
the No. 3 spot, earning an 8-3 win over Krebs and Velligas.
The Pioneers close out the regular season at home on Saturday,
April 5 when they play host to Puget Sound at 10 a.m. at the Tennis
Dome.
