A courageous effort highlighted the day but Men's tennis falls short again

Portland, Ore.-
The LC men’s tennis team dropped a tough dual match Saturday
morning against the visiting Pacific Boxers by a score of 7-2.
Going up against a deeper squad again, the Pios couldn’t
capitalize on a couple great wins up high in the order.
George Allen’s performance highlighted the day as he showed
the grit and determination of what it means to be a Pio. Already
nursing an injury aggravated the night prior, Allen fought through
a tough doubles match with very little mobility. Teaming up with
Peter Ray who has stepped up his game this year, the duo scored an
8-6 victory against the strong Boxers #1 doubles team. Questioning
if he should even play singles, Allen decided to give it a go and
dropped the first set 6-2. Coach Chau suggested that he should call
it a day, but Allen insisted he could continue and down 5-1,
40-love in the third set, he staved off three match points and
rattled off six consecutive games to take the match! Unfortunately,
the rest of the day wasn’t so bright for the Pios as Pacific
handled them the rest of the way.
Next up for the Pios is a double header on the 19th versus Pacific
Lutheran University.
