PORTLAND, ORE.-
It was a long and tough weekend for the Pioneers as they finished
it out with a 9-0 loss to an improving Vikings squad. Coach
Tilmanis hopes that the tough schedule with reap benefits for his
young team later down the road.
Doubles play started the day and the Pios found the Vikings’
serves hard to break. Mustering up only five total games between
the three matches, the Pios were eager to find some redemption in
singles action. Peter Ray stepped up and went toe-to-toe with Kyle
Erickson but ultimately lost 6-3, 6-3. Points were fun to watch as
both men displayed their shot making abilities. Quinn Roth-Carter
also had a good match but also fell by the same count of 6-3, 6-3.
Quinn’s serve continues to be one of his weapons but a focus
on putting easy balls away will make it even more deadly.
The Pios will take a much deserved break before playing the
University of Puget Sound on Feb. 27th at 2:00 pm at the LC Tennis
Dome.
