LC Women Display Conference Prowess In A 8-1 Victory

PORTLAND, ORE.-
The women had a strong showing at University of Puget Sound on
Saturday against a conference opponent. The women finished with an
8-1 score to earn the victory.
The day started off on a good note as the Pioneers swept all three
doubles matches. Continuing a winning streak, Lisa Harunaga and
Isabelle Borris defeated their opponents with a score of 8-3.
Playing together for the first time, Amalia Nilsson and Jill
Coleman looked comfortable together as they downed their opponents
8-2. Maggie Peach and Macrina Sharpe finished off their opponents
with an equally impressive score of 8-3.
After a promising display in doubles action, the Pioneers
continued their dominance in singles play. At #1 and #2
respectively, Amalia Nilsson and Lisa Harunaga got off to a strong
start and never looked back, as they came out on top with a 6-0,
6-0 score. A couple matches were much more competitive. At the #4
spot, Coleman was pushed to a third set but came out victorious
with a score of 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4). There was another close match
at #6 singles. Macrina Sharpe battled hard but ended up falling
short with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (13-11) score.
The women are back in action tomorrow morning at 9:30 at the LC
Tennis Dome. They will meet a competitive conference opponent in
the Willamette Bearcats.
