Tennis Announces 2010-11 Recruits

PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark head tennis coach Gundars Tilmanis has announced his 2010-11 recruiting class. The Pioneer women will add four players on the women's side in: Casey Schein, Sophie Rasmussen, Sara Scott and Ngan Nguyen. The men's side will add two players to their rosters in: Muneeb Khan and Sam Franer.

Schein comes to the Pioneers after playing for Evergreen State College last season. A native of Ashland, Ore., she is expected to play from the #2 or #3 position in singles, while pairing up in the #1 or #2 spot in doubles.

Rasmussen, who hails from Montclair, N.J., played for Montclair High School. She is expected to be a #5 or #6 singles player and a #3 spot player in doubles.

Scott, a freshman from Green Mountain High School in Lakewood, Colo., will play at the #5 or #6 in singles and #3 in doubles.

Nguyen comes to the Pioneers from Hanoi, Vietnam and Dong Do High School. Like Scott and Rasmussen she is likely to be a #5 or #6 singles player and a #3 doubles partner.

On the men's side, Khan comes to the Pioneers from Karachi, Pakistan and the Karachi American School. He is likely to play from the #1 or #2 singles spot, while teaming up in the #2 doubles position.

Franer, a freshman from Mariemont High School in Terrance Park, Ohio, will help the Pioneers out from the #5 or #6 singles spot and #3 doubles.
