Men's Tennis Falls to Portland State
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team hit the road for a tough season opener at Portland State University on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers fell to the Vikings 7-0.
Scott Monismith battled strong for the Pioneers from the No. 4 singles spot, splitting with Wil Cochrane after two sets. Monismith fell 6-3 in the opening set before taking the second set by the same score. Despite splitting, Cochrane proved to be too much to handle, earning a 6-0 win in the final set.
Ryotaro Tokura nearly pulled a second set win against Dillon Triance in the No. 5 singles spot. Tokura fell 6-1 in the opening set, but made Triance earn every point of his 7-5 second set victory.
The Pioneers return to the court on Friday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. at home against Whitworth.
