PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team opened its 2014 season with a challenge, taking on Big South Conference member Liberty University. The Pioneers fell to the Flames 6-1, playing Division I scoring.
The Flames earned the doubles point after sweeping all three positions.
Lewis & Clark's lone point came from freshman Morgan Joyce at the No. 6. It took Joyce just two sets to defeat his opponent Josiah Boda (6-4, 6-0). Sophomore Kevin Ross came from a set down from the No. 2 to force a third set against Alejandro Llamas, but was unable to hang on (6-4, 7-6, 8-10).
The Pioneers take the court again on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. when they host Seattle University for another exciting challenge.
