PORTLAND, Ore. -The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team took down the Linfield Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in Northwest Conference action in the L&C Tennis Dome, picking up a dominating 8-1 win.
The Pioneers swept through singles play, taking all six points. Kevin Ross played as the Pioneers No. 1, earning a 6-4, 6-1 win over Micah Roos. Playing as the No. 2, Morgan Joyce had to fight Kelsey Rosborough through three sets, but eventually came out on top winning 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-2). Ben Sands (No. 3) defeated Lukas Kleinman 6-2, 6-4, while Parker Nichols took down Tim Hawkins 6-2, 6-1 as the No. 4. Junior Carter Gee-Taylor made quick work of Aec Wisthoff at the No. 5 spot with a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Cameron Smith earned his point due to the Wildcats not having a sixth player.
Morgan and Joyce paired up at No. 2 doubles to earn the Pioneers a 8-3 win over Roos and Hawkins. The Pios final point came in No. 3 doubles with Ross and Nichols earning a point by default as Wisthoff did not have a partner. Michael Brewer and Smith teamed up in No. 1 doubles but could not overcome Rosborough and Kleinman who picked up a 8-5 victory.
Lewis & Clark returns to the court on Saturday, March 22 at 1 p.m. in California against Chapman.
