Men's Tennis a Point in Singles and Doubles in 7-2 Loss at Chapman
ORANGE, Calif. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team started off spring break with a match at Chapman, who are ranked 13th in the west region, on Saturday afternoon at the Chapman Tennis Courts.
Scott Monismith and Parker Nichols earned the Pioneers only point in doubles action, taking down Justin Thompson and Zach Resnick 8-4 in the No. 3 spot. Michael Brewer and Kevin Ross nearly earned the Pios a second point in doubles play, but came up just short against Charlie Werman and Sam Mittledorf, falling 9-8. Daniel Hahm and Morgan Joyce could not overcome Troy Akin and Brett Buford in the No. 1 spot, falling 8-2.
Ben Sands picked up the Pioneers only singles point, defeating Hunter Morris 6-1, 6-4 as the Pios No. 6. Brewer fell 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 spot, while Ross lost 6-3, 7-5 in the two spot. Hahm lost to Buford 6-2, 6-0 as the No. 3 and Monismith fell by the same scores to Mittledorf in the No. 5 spot. Joyce battled Akin in the No. 4 position, but ultimately fell after three sets 3-6, 6-4, 10-3.
Lewis & Clark returns to the court on Sunday, March 23 against Occidental.
