Men's Tennis Faces Tough Test With Division II Sonoma State


ROHNERT, Calif. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team continued its spring break tour of California on Wednesday afternoon, taking on NCAA Division II member Sonoma State University. The Seawolves defeated the Pioneers 6-3.

The Pioneers were unable to capture a point in doubles play, however the duo of Daniel Hahm and Morgan Joyce battled tough as the Pios No. 1 falling 8-6. 

Kevin Ross, Scott Monismith and Carter Gee-Taylor earned Lewis & Clark all three of their points. Ross played as the Pios No. 2 in singles action, earning a 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 win over Daniel Holz. Monismith also forced three sets in his match as the teams No. 5, defeating Seth Heiev 7-6 (3), 3-6, 10-3. Like his teammates, Gee-Taylor was also forced to play three sets in the No. 6 position, fighting Jimmy Manning for a 1-6, 6-3, 12-10 victory. 

Lewis & Clark returns home for its next contest, hosting Whitworth at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 4 in Northwest Conference action.
