NCRC Championships

The Pioneer men and women's teams each finished third in their Conference at the NCRC Championships Saturday at Vancouver Lake (results). The Women's Varsity Eight finished fourth. The MV8 placed third.
"We had a very consistent showing throughout the day," said Head Coach Sam Taylor. "We logged a lot of 3rd and 4th place finishes and as a result were able to secure 3rd for both teams by the skin of our teeth. The varsity women finished 4th in the eight which was huge for us; Western and Puget Sound went away from the field and we were in a strong fight for 3rd but got nipped at the line by Seattle Pacific. Considering we haven't beaten SPU, Humboldt, or Willamette in a sprint all year that was a great finish for us and set us up for a good day. Our Jv4 was 4th and our pair got 3rd. Our Novice women got 3rd in both the 2nd novice and 1st novice 4, and got a strong 4th in the novice 8 in really bad conditions. Overall we were able to stay solid and take advantage of other teams mistakes. The team surpassed my expectations and I'm very happy with that!"
The Varsity men got 3rd in the eight; these were probably our worst possible conditions for these guys but they had a decent piece. Again it was consistency that got us through it-- 3rd in the JV4, 3rd in the pair, 4th in the varsity 4. Our novice men came through with 3rd in both the 2nd novice and the 1st novice 4."
