Portland, Ore- Graduating Pioneer Senior Ruthie Ditzler was named to the 2011 Division III Pocock All-America second team Tuesday by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, marking the second time in her career that she has been honored. The Pioneer's 1V8 finished the 2011 season ranked 2nd in the DIII Pacific Region.
Pioneer Head Coach Sam Taylor paid tribute to Ruthie's career; "Ruthie has been a tremendous asset to our program. As an athlete and as an oar she's been at the top of our squad every day she's been on campus, but more then that she took such tremendous strides this year to make the whole team better and every day worked to help the athletes around her. We owe a tremendous amount of our success this year to her leadership and passion for this team and she will be missed in years to come."
Lewis & Clark Crew also had five athletes named to the CRCA 2011 Scholar-Athletes list. To qualify, athletes must be in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of eligibility, race in NCAA eligible boats for the institution, and have a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA.
