The Pioneer softball team finished off their Bay Area road trip with a pair of losses, 9-0 (box score) and 3-4 (box score), Monday afternoon at Bethany.

In game two, the Pioneers took a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Karyne Sander (senior, Grants Pass, Ore.) doubled to lead off the inning. Singles by Jamie Moon (sophomore, Baker City, Ore.) and Laura Parker (junior, Healdsburg, Calif.) followed by a pair of stolen bases by Moon and Parker helped score the three runs. The Pioneers left the bases loaded to end the inning.

Bethany countered with four runs in the bottom of the third and held on for a 4-3 victory.

The Pioneers play a split series this coming weekend with the George Fox Bruins. The two teams play Saturday at the Huston Sports Complex and then finish the series Sunday in Newberg. Saturday's games will be carried live on the internet through sportsjuice.com.
