Kayla Rice joined the Lewis & Clark softball staff in the fall of 2015 as an assistant coach. Rice comes from an extensive background in softball. Before joining the Pioneers, Rice coached with Tony Rico's Firecrackers Organization for 9 years.

She coached with Tony Rico's 18U Gold team from 2006-2011, helping coach them to multiple championships: Triple Crown Colorado Fireworks Champions in 2006 and 2008-2011; Canada Cup Champions 2008-2011; and ASA 18U Gold National Champions in 2007.

Rice graduated from California State University-Fullerton in the fall of 2011 with her Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology. She played at Oak Park High School in Oak Park, Calif., and was First-Team All-CIF and First-Team Tri Valley League in 2006.
