Chris Fantz New Pioneer Head Swim Coach
Chris Fantz has been selected to be the next Swimming Coach and
Aquatics Director at Lewis & Clark College. Most Recently Chris
has served as the assistant coach at the University of Puget Sound
where their women won the past eleven Northwest Conference titles
and their men place consistently in the top two. In his time
coaching the Loggers, they sent four swimmers to the Division III
National Championships. Chris has been an integral part of the
Loggers' success, success that spans several coaches and many
decades in Tacoma. Chris was several time All-American and school
record holder while participating at UPS from 1995 to 1999.
"There was an incredibly successful pool of applicants for this
position, many of whom were successful head coaches and who have
coached in Division I, II and III. Those we interviewed in person
or by phone were all very impressive and possessed many skills and
characteristics we desire. Chris emerged from this group as the one
we want to lead our men's and women's teams toward success in the
Northwest Conference and on to National competition, all within the
parameters of very rigorous academic demands and expectations."
Fantz began his duties by welcoming freshmen the first day of
school and will be preparing the teams for their first competition
in October.
“I’m ecstatic to be on the pool deck for the Pioneers.
With the talented student-athletes we have now and the upward
trajectory of this program, I know we are headed toward great
heights.”
