Pioneer women finish in 4th and men in 6th at NWC Championships
The Pioneers closed out their 2007-08 swim season at the Northwest Conference Championships in Federal Way, WA. The women took fourth place while the men placed sixth.

The Pioneer women fell to fourth place overall in the Northwest
Conference Championships after Sunday evening's finals while the
men finished in sixth place.
Claire Jordan (freshman, Edmonds, WA) was the top finisher for the Pioneer women on Sunday evening, placing 4th in the 1650 free just three seconds short of third place. The women's 400 free relay swam a strong race, clinching third. However, the Pioneer women's efforts would fall just short of a top three team score as they placed fourth behind Whitman. Final women's team scores for the weekend are as follows:

For the men, lone Sunday finalist Pat Murray (junior, Jamestown, RI) improved to 5th place in the 200 breast. Their 400 free relay team followed suit with a 5th place finish as well. The Pioneer men closed out the meet in 6th place. Men's final scores for the weekend are as follows:

The Lewis and Clark swim teams have five finalists in five different events after Sunday's preliminary races.

The Pioneer women, hoping to extend their third place lead over Whitman--the Pioneers have 281 points over Whitman's 274--have four finalists. Cat Menkel-Lawrence (freshman, Newport, OR) is the 4th seed in the 200 back, Koy Collier (junior, Wailuku, HI) is 3rd seed in the 100 free, Rachel Yarranton (senior, San Mateo, CA) is 4th seed in the 200 breast and Sarit Gluz (junior, Eugene, OR) is 8th seed in the 200 fly.
Pat Murray (junior, Jamestown, RI) is the lone Sunday finalist for the Pioneer men, seeding 6th in the 200 breast.
The Pioneers will swim their final races this evening in Federal Way at 6pm.
Saturday's Final Results
The Pioneer women remain in third place with 281 points. The Whitworth Pirates maintain a strong hold on first place with 520 points.
The men hold sixth place with 159 points behind the Whitworth Pirates with 477.5 points.

Lindsay Nixon was the top Pioneer finalist, placing 3rd in the 400IM. Nixon was also part of the 3rd place 800 free relay team. The rest of the Pioneer women's team has banded together well as a team to maintain their third place spot.
The Pioneer men swam a strong 200 medley relay, placing fourth behind Puget Sound, five-time reigning champions Whitworth and Whitman.
The Pioneers swim the final preliminary races of the Championship meet Sunday morning. Check back for results.
Saturday's Preliminary Results
The Pioneer swim teams have seven finalists in five different events after preliminary races on Saturday morning. Lindsay Nixon (junior, Chino Hills, CA), reigning champion in the 400IM is seeded second in that event and third in the 100 fly. Sarit Gluz (junior, Eugene, OR) is seeded 8th in the 100 fly with Nixon. Koy Collier (junior, Wailuku, HI) and Claire Jordan (freshman, Edmonds, WA) are seeded 4th and 6th respectively in the 200 free, Susie Trexler (freshman, Reno, NV) is seeded 6th in the 100 back, and Pat Murray is the lone men's finalist seeding 8th in the 100 breast.
Friday's Final Results
The Lewis and Clark men's team sit in 6th place and the women in 3rd after Friday's final races. Lindsay Nixon took second place in the 200IM with Claire Jordan placing 8th in the 500 free finals. Justin Lawton placed 5th in the 50 free.
The Pione er women are in third place with 119 points, edging the Whitman Missionaries by two points.
