Women's 800 Freestyle Team Shatters 1989 Record
RESULTS
FEDERAL WAY, Wash., - The Lewis & Clark
women’s swim team continues to shatter school records in the
quest for a Northwest Conference Swimming Championship. Lindsay
Nixon set yet another school record, this time capturing second
place in the 400 IM, which was good enough to earn another
provisional NCAA qualifying time.
In the women’s 100 backstroke, Annie Hay also set a brand new
Pioneer record, finishing in third, while also posting a
provisional NCAA qualifying time. The relay teams also proved to be
another record breaking area for the women’s side, with the
200 medley relay team of Hay, Susie Trexler, Nixon and Koy Collier
setting a new school record with a time of 1:51.87, good enough for
a third place finish.
The women’s 800 free relay team of Nixon, Claire Jordan,
Trexler, and Collier finished the race in second place with a time
of 7:58.03. The time shatters the school record, set back in 1989,
by nearly five seconds.
On the men’s side, Zac Hixson had the Pioneers best finish of
the night, touching in fifth place in the 100 backstroke with a
time of 56.33.
Both sides hit the pool tomorrow Sunday, Feb. 15 for the final day
of the NWC Championships. Preliminary races will begin in the
morning.
