Swim Teams Split at Pacific

The Pioneer women swam to an easy victory against the Boxers on Saturday in a conference meet at Pacific University, 121-81. The Pioneer women placed first in seven of the eleven events in the meet, helping them to the victory over the Boxers.

For the Pioneers, Lindsey Nixon (Sr., Chino Hills, Calif.) finished first in the 200 yard IM and also in the 100 yard butterfly. Claire Jordan (Soph., Edmonds, Wash.) achieved two first place finishes as well, both in the 100 and 500 yard freestyle. Koy Collier (Sr., Wailuku, Hawaii) finished first in the 200 yard freestyle and second in the 500 yard freestyle. Also for the Pioneers, Susie Trexler (Soph., Reno, Nevada) finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke. The Pioneer women also acheived a first place finish in the 200 yard medley relay.

On the men's side, the Pioneers had a much closer battle with the Boxers, losing by just three points, 93-90. The men trailed by just four points going into the final race of the day, the 200 yard freestyle relay, but finished just behind the Boxers.

For the men, the Pioneers received four individual first place finishes from four different swimmers. Sam Palmer (Jr., Salt Lake City, Utah) finished first in the 50 yard freestyle, Noah Boring (Fresh., Tillamook, Ore.) placed first in the 100 yard freestyle and also second in the 50 yard freestyle, Lee Taylor (Fresh., Santa Fe, NM) finished first in the 500 yard freestyle, and Pat Murray (Sr., Jamestown, R.I.) finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke.

The women moved to 2-0 in conference and 3-2 overall, while the men dropped to 0-2 in conference and 0-3 overall.
