Parkland, WA- Back on the road Friday, the Pioneers took on Pacific Lutheran at the Lutes home pool.  Despite several strong swims and a solid relay victory on the women's side both squads  were aovercome by PLU, the women going 111-94 while the men went 120-84.

Asssistant Coach Dave Kraff said, “It was great to see people battling through tired races in the pool showing they can still swim fast during solid training.

On the women's side the Pioneers were led by Claire Jordan in the distance races.  Claire took the win in both the 500 and 1650 yard Freestyle events Friday.  Rachael Cazden also claimed the win in the 50 Freestyle as well as a solid second in the 100 Freestyle while Gail Wilcoxen took the 100 Butterfly.  Cazden and Jordan were joined by Hannah Frank and Kallie Smith to take a solid win in the 200 Freestyle Relay for the Pioneer Women.

The Pioneer men's team was challenged but throughout the night managed to keep the racing close.  Steven Carreno took out the 400 Medley while Isaac Ekbald took 2nd in both the 100 Butterfly and the  200 Freestyle.

Head Coach Chris Fantz summed up the racing; “Our kids continue to take their races out strong. We’re working hard right now, but they are not afraid of attacking swims. I think we take a lot of pride racing the right way and I know it will pay off in a few weeks at Conference.  The way our swimmers get amped up during each other’s races is spectacular.”

The Pioneers are in action against Puget Sound Saturday, with the meet starting at 1 PM.
