Seven Athletes Join Swim Program

PORTLAND, Ore. - Lewis & Clark head swim coach Chris Fantz announced the addition of seven student-athletes to the Pioneers swim program for the 2013-14 season. The seven new swimmers include five student-athletes for the women's team and two for the men.

The Pioneers are set to return 15 athletes from the women's team and eight from the men's after graduating six swimmers in total. The women's side finished sixth last season at the Northwest Conference Championships with senior Rachael Cazden earning a NWC Championship in the 100 freestyle. The new student-athletes for the women's side are expected to give the Pioneers more depth and speed as they look to climb back a top the NWC standings.

The men's side finished the championships in seventh place, while freshman Tyler Moody picked up the teams only NWC First-Team honor with a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke. The Pioneers two new swimmers for the men's side will help replace the Pios two graduated seniors.
