FOREST GROVE, Ore-- At the final meet of their regular season, the Lewis & Clark swim program took on the Pacific Boxers in Forest Grove and found a stiff challenge. Pacific took both sides of the meet, with the Boxers women going 122 to the Pioneers 83, and the Pio men falling 120-75.
The Pioneers did pull down two race wins, both on the men's side of the program. Alan Hermanns won the 200 Freestyle with a strong race, almost five seconds ahead of the 2nd place Pacific swimmer. Zac Oser took a tight win in the 50 Freestyle. Oser and Hermanns followed their wins up with a strong 2nd and 3rd place in the 200 Backstroke.
The Pioneer women were strongly challenged by Pacific, but there were some solid signs of depth for the Pioneers leading into the NWC Championships. Lesley Pfeiffer lead home Heather Markham and Libby Bissen to go 2-3-4 in the 1000 Freestyle. Ali Brauer and teammate Katy Yeh went 2-3 in the 200 Individual Medley, followed a little later in the program with Yeh leading home Pfeiffer to take another 2-3 in the 200 Butterfly. Pfeiffer, Taylor Coiiner, and Bissen placed 2-3-4 again in the 500 Freestyle, and teammates Aspen Johnson, Yeh, and Markham repeated the 2-3-4 placing in the 200 Breaststroke.
The Pioneers have two weekends off to finalize their preparations for the NWC Championships, to be held February 14th-16th in Federal Way, WA.
