#NewPios16 - Men's Swimming

PALATINE HILL -- Five new student-athletes will join the Lewis & Clark Pioneers men's swimming team next fall, head coach Chris Fantz announced on Tuesday. With only one senior, Seth Anderson, graduated from last year's roster, the Pios will bring back a high number of returners, including All-Northwest Conference selection August Bergh.

Bergh, a then-freshman, set a new Lewis & Clark record with his sub-10-minute 1,000-meter split time in the 1,650 Freestyle race at the 2016 NWC Championship and finished eighth overall. As a sophomore, Kevin Fox qualified for the 200 Butterfly final, finishing 15th, and narrowly missed making the final in two other races. Zac Oser qualified for three finals including a fourth-place finish in the B final of the 200 Backstroke. He also competed in the 50 and 100 Backstroke finals.

"This a great class of young men joining an already motivated squad," said Fantz, who enters his 10th season as head coach. "They're going to flesh out several key places in our meet lineups and contribute to the largest men's roster we have fielded in years."
