Phillips Finishes 12th at Nationals
Amanda Phillips (junior, Phoenix, Ore.) finished in 12th place
Saturday in the finals of the 1500m race at the NCAA III National
Championships, held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Phillips posted a time
of 4:43.88, shedding four seconds off her preliminary time. Marcia
taddy of Wisconsin-Platteville won the event with a time of
4:27.04.
Phillips ran a provisional-qulaifying time of 4:36.86 at the
Oregon Twilight Meet on May 12th to qualify 14th in a field of 18
runners for the Championship. In Thursday's preliminary, Phillips
had the fourth-fastest time of all runners not automatically
advancing to the event final to earn the 12th and final spot in the
event final. This was her first trip to the National Championships
as a track athlete. She competed in the fall NCAA III National
Cross Country Championships, finishing 96th in the race.
