Friday Track: Charles Bowles Invitational

 The Pioneer track and field teams competed Friday at the Charles Bowles Invitational at Willamette University in Salem (complete results) in an unscored team meet.

Cheyenne Feliz (freshman, Davis Calif.) won the 400m run with a 59:51. She was second in a field of 21 competitors in the 200m, finishing with a time of 26.52, .26 of a second behind the winner.

Kelsey Croall (freshman, Newcastle, Calif.) was sixth out of 29 runners in the 5000m, posting a time of 18:57.71.  Christina Herring (freshman, San Dimas, Calif.) was fifth in a field of 19 runners in the 100m hurdles with a 17.11. Herring was also fifth in the 400m hurdles with a 1:11.02, winning her heat in the process. 

Hannah Hultine (senior, Tualatin, Ore.) set a Lewis & Clark record in the steeplechase with a time of 12:07.95, dropping 12 seconds off her previous best in the record-setting effort.


New NWC qualifiers were Christina Herring in the 100mH and 400mH, Heather Jones in the 400mH, Liz Johnson in the shot put, Katherine Groesbeck in the triple jump, Lisa Housman in the 100m, and Kelsey Croall in the 5000m. 

For the men, Joevonte Mayes (freshman, Milwaukie, Ore.) was 4th among 28 athletes in the 100m, with a time of  11.47 seconds. Jeff Carman (junior, Elmira, Ore.) was 10th amongst the 34 runners competing in the 5000m with a 15:44.03.

In a meet at the University of Oregon Preview Meet, Amanda Phillips (senior, Phoenix, Ore.) ran a PR in 3000m, 10:22.96. 

Maren Swanson competed at the Linfield Heptathlon competion on Monday and Tuesday, scoring 2,891 points in her first collegiate Heptathlon.
