Women's Basketball Defeats CSU East Bay 85-73

The Lewis & Clark women's basketball team finished off their
holiday tournament in Tacoma with a 85-73 victory over the Cal
State East Bay Pioneers. Crystal Castle had 25 points in the
victory. Kim Kittell scored a career-high 19 points (box score).
After an up-and-down start to the game, Lewis & Clark outscored East Bay 20-4 in the final eight minutes of the first half to take a 45-29 lead into the break. L&C extended twice pushed their lead out to 21, both times on scores by guard Christina Herring (freshman, San Dimas, Calif.), holding on for the 85-73 victory.
Crystal Castle (senior, Rocklin, Calif.) put up 18 points in the first half, closing out the game with 25 points, hitting six of eleven field goals and knocking down ten freethrows in eleven attempts. She also had eight rebounds, three steals, and four assists. Kim Kittell (sophomore, Tillamook, Ore.) scored a career-high 19 points. Tallera Rich (sophomore, Los Alamos, N.M.) scored 13 points, going 5-6 from the field.
With the win, Lewis & Clark improves to 4-5 on the season. East Bay falls to 4-6.
The Pioneers open up the Northwest Conference season on Wednesday, January 2, when they head to Forrest Grove to take on the Pacific Boxers. The game will be carried live on the internet on sportsjuice.com.
